New Year, New You, with Stratus Healthcare

New year’s resolutions are rarely seen through but with some help from our team at Stratus, maybe this will be your year to start thinking differently about your body and your mind.

Here are our top tips to give yourself a healthy start to 2018!

Get Moving

Getting fit doesn’t need to cost the earth. There are plenty of beaches, woods, hills, and parks all around us – we have no excuse not to get out and about in the fresh air! Exercise is really important for your health. It can act as a natural anti-depressant, ward off heart attacks, and help in monitoring weight control. Here at Stratus, we offer Free Training Programmes to help you and your family get moving, and training for a 5k or 10k.

We also have a variety of videos from personal trainer Donna Dunne, who will be on hand to offer her tips and guide you through exercises you can do from your own home.

We’re with you all the way.

Healthier Eating

Let’s face it, we all tend to enjoy ourselves over the Christmas period with rich foods, more chocolate than ever and maybe even a glass of wine too many. We could all do with eating a bit better. Consistent meals are critical for maintaining energy, concentration, weight and digestive regularity. Try and commit to three meals a day and two healthy snacks. It is also important to keep taking your vitamins (15% off this month) and probiotics (33% off this month). If you are looking for a proven, online programme to help you improve nutrition, why not try our online Healthy Lifestyles Programme. With different programmes to suit your needs, whether you want to cut back on sugar or to quit smoking, Stratus can help you reach your goals.

Know Your Family History

Talk to your family and find out the medical history of your granny, your grandad, your great granny and grandad. Even ask about aunts, uncles and cousins. The more information you know the quicker your doctor can assess you and rule out potential risks.

Be Grateful

Being grateful in life isn’t just nice, it’s also very good for your health. Keeping a gratitude journal about the things you appreciate daily is a terrific way to boost your overall happiness.

However, if you do feel at a loss and can’t quite put your finger on why, we are here to help. We have proven online Mental Wellbeing Programmes, recommended by major health providers, for treating anxiety, depression, insomnia, alcohol and substance abuse, and obsessive compulsive disorder. These online programmes are easy to use and are designed to treat mental health from the ease of your own home. Talk to us at Stratus if you have any questions.

Get a Health Check from your Doctor

It is really important you stay on top of your general health and mental wellbeing. You should visit your doctor at least once a year and if you have a medical condition you should visit them every 6 months. If you have any concerns about your general health or your mental well-being, or you are unsure whether you need to see a doctor, why not chat to one of our pharmacists on our PharmaChat service to discuss what is best for you.

It’s the beginning of the new year and let’s start it right!
