What is OCFighter?™

It is a structured, easy to use, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) programme.

Is it right for me?

It is designed for anyone who wants effective, confidential, self-monitored treatment to help overcome OCD, without waiting for an appointment or visiting a clinic.

How do I know it works?

The OCFighter™ programme shows you the relationship between your thoughts, feelings, physical sensations and your behaviours. It shows how the interaction between these can cause OCD problems to persist. It explains how the technique of Exposure and Response Preventions works (identifying triggers for obsessions and rituals, gradually exposing yourself to these triggers, and preventing rituals). This is a well proven strategy that helps OCD sufferers break free from the rituals and compulsions that interfere with daily life.

You access the material on-line via your PC, tablet or phone. Working through structured sessions, you can print out worksheets for activities, monitor your own progress, and receive emails with further tips at the end of each step. There is also an option for telephone support and 60 minutes of therapy.

How long does it take?

It is a 9-session programme, with each session lasting 30 to 40 minutes. As the material is available on-line, 24/7, you can access it in the privacy of your own home or wherever you are connected to the internet.

How can I be sure that it is effective?

Randomised controlled trials, conducted in the UK and US, show that OCFighter™ can achieve a similar reduction in time spent on obsessions and rituals, compared to individuals treated by a clinician face-to-face. Research also shows that users start to significantly improve after only one exposure and ritual-prevention (ERP) session.
